With the last days of summer behind us, the girls of b.LUXE are looking back on the Summer of 2018 with a smile!  We are an eclectic group with many interests and different ideas of relaxation! We did a bit of everything this summer and each of us carved out a little adventure to tell!  We took exotic trips to magical places, visited fun locations all up and down the East Coast, enjoyed our pools and fire pits, camped and traveled for sports and a few of us even had a few big-life moments to share.  The b.LUXE team squeezed every last ounce of fun from this summer and we thought you’d enjoy a peek at some of our summer shenanigans…
Let’s start with Heather…The 4th of July is always a special time for her and her family. As many of you know, Heather is a bit of a workaholic, so downtime is a rarity and something that’s very important to her. Each 4th, her and her husband plan a vacation with her sister’s family. This year was especially poignant because her brother’s family joined in the fun with a trip to Barbados!

Heather – There were six adults and four kids! We packed up our sun hats and swimmies and hit the beach! No laptops or cell phones and no distractions other than what time we should go sea kayaking or how many Shirley Temples we needed to order at the swim-up bar!

Kelsey – This March my boyfriend and I went to one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen! We chose to visit to visit Thailand to experience a new culture and to see a different part of the world. Trust me, the 23 hour plane ride was worth the trip! We visited Phuket, kayaked, toured ancient temples and even took a cooking lesson! This will be a hard vacation to top

Marissa – This summer was extra special for me as I spent most of my time getting ready for my little girl who is arriving in November!  We enjoyed thinking about names and making plans and making sure everything is ready for her. We also took time and enjoyed a weekend in Maine, taking in the beautiful lakes and scenery.  Our dogs found swimming in the lakes very exciting! I can’t believe summer is over already and I can’t wait till November!

Nicole – When I wasn’t working, which wasn’t very often, I spent lots of time with my handsome man and our dogs! It’s crazy busy during the year so I love the summer for finding time to relax and we did just that! We’re both athletic, so bike riding, parasailing and hiking were a big part of our summer! There was also a trip to Miami where we enjoyed some of the most beautiful beaches and sunsets, too!

Jess – My family and I spent much of our summer by the pool, enjoying BBQs and evening fires with the kids.  We entertained our New York relatives with plenty of games and summer fun! My girls and I took a trip to Disney with friends and visited my sister who lives in Florida! There was a quick trip to Chatham and P-town for the 4th, some great beach days in Dennis and a fun-filled trip to Hampton Beach!  Oh, and did I mention the newest addition to our family, my little bulldog puppy! ❤️

Erica – This summer was all about education, for me!  I traveled to New York City where I completed my Goldwell Master Colorist Certification! Of course, I couldn’t be in NYC without taking some time to exploring the Big Apple! I visited the 9/11 memorial, which was so moving and serene. I covered a lot of pavement, discovering new places and things I hadn’t seen before. I stopped to nosh at my favorite sushi place, KazuNori, and wrapped up the evenings enjoying the view from the rooftop restaurant, Mykonos Blue.

Erin – My husband Brian and I enjoyed a few days away for our anniversary over the 4th of July week. It was so nice to unwind and disconnect for awhile. We relaxed and sat by the pool at the beautiful Royal Playa Del Carmen resort, taking in the gorgeous weather. The food was delicious and the live entertainment each night was a perfect way to end the evening!  It was a such a nice way to celebrate our anniversary!

Julie – This summer was amazing! I sailed the Greek Islands with my boyfriend on a 40 ft. yacht name the “Julie!”  We embarked on our journey from Athens and sailed for 8 days, stopping to enjoy many destinations! Captain Rigas was wonderful and introduced us to the local food and culture! We swam and snorkled in the crystal, blue sea, exploring caves and ruins dating back more than two centuries. I’m completely smitten with Greece
Nikki – This summer, my fiance and I bought our first home together! There was lots of packing and moving, so we made it a point to squeeze in some downtime with a few quick getaways! We spent time with both families down the Cape, visiting Hyannis, P-town, and Falmouth. In late August, we headed to upstate New York for the 149th Travers Stakes in Saratoga Springs. We loved spending time at Lake George, ziplining, boating and relaxing with friends and family!
Brittany – I had a beautiful experience this summer traveling with my husband and friends to Sao Miguel, the largest and most populous island in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. My husband’s parents were both born in this region and it was amazing to see where his family originated from. We took in the Sete Cidades, twin lakes situated in the crater of a dormant volcano, the Thermal Water Pool in the Terra Nostra Gardens, the Porto Formoso Tea Plantation and the Island of Villa Franca.  Everything was just stunning!
Kim – I spent most of my summer doing my favorite thing – Gardening! I love nothing more than the quiet solitude of my garden. It gives me time to reflect on my most cherished memories. My favorite flower, my day lilies, were outstanding this year! Crazy beautiful!  I loved gathering a bunch every week for the front desk for our customers to enjoy. I also took a trip to Cape Vincent, NY cruising the St. Lawrence River. I spent my time boating, visiting family, cooking, laughing and having a wonderful time!
Kirsten – This July my husband Matt and I went to the Azores to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary, meeting up with friends a few days later (one being Brittany from b.LUXE!) We toured the entire island of Sao Miguel and it couldn’t have been more perfect! We went swimming in the natural, hot sulfur pool and mineral springs of Poca Da Dona Beija, took a tour of the historic tea factory, Chá Porto Formoso and treated ourselves to a massage and wined and dined our way across Sao Miguel’s countryside. Perfeito!
Brielle – I was able to fit in a few trips during this busy summer! My boyfriend Conor and I traveled to Ft. Lauderdale to visit his family and were able to pop over to Orlando for a few days to enjoy all things Disney, with my favorite being the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom! In August we traveled up to Jackson New Hampshire for Conor’s birthday. We fell in love with Cathedral Ledge, Echo Lake, Arethusa Falls and Diana’s Bath in the White Mountains!
Jenn – This summer consisted of Lacrosse, Lacross and more Lacrosse! It wasn’t all sports and no play, though.  We traveled with the team to Stowe and Burlington, VT, Portsmouth, NH and Cape Cod! Between games, my husband, myself and the kids were able to take in some local fun! We went to Ben and Jerry’s headquarters in Burlington, VT where we all indulged in our favorite ice cream! We also visited many of the local farmers’ markets and squeezed in some swimming and fishing, too!
Sarah – We had a very busy summer with work and travel!  Besides spending most of my weekends helping brides look beautiful on their big day, my husband Dave and I were able to sneak away and enjoy a few weddings with our friends! We traveled to Prince Edward Island, a maritime province of Canada, in the Gulf of St. Lawrence! It was amazing! The red-sand beaches with their quaint lighthouses took our breath away. We had such a special time sharing this beautiful island with our loved ones.
Emily – This summer was certainly crazy busy! There was plenty of work but, we had a lot of family time at the beach, hiking at Ashland State Park and even got a day in at the Medieval Manor! We made sure our afternoons included plenty of pool time, too! I also had a great time in Boston with Goldwell educator Odette Silva, putting another advanced color class under my belt! I love coming into a new color season armed with fresh info and new techniques! Some education, some sun and fun…I would say this summer rocked!

Emilee – My summer vacation was spent relaxing with family on a few camping trips through Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The kids and I tried our hand at paddle boarding, splashed through water slides and enjoyed the lazy, summer days by the lakes. There was also a good amount of time spent mastering the art of lighting a campfire, which, I must say, I’m pretty good at now! This helped out a lot for the late night campfire stories with the kids.

As you can see, the b.LUXE team made the most out of their lazy days of summer. Lots of sun, family, food, friends, and laughter. Isn’t that what summer’s really all about?

Happy Almost-Autumn Everyone! Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

The b.LUXE Girls…
